Super want! – Tactical Nuclear Penguin, worlds strongest beer

Tactical Nuclear Penguin

Tactical Nuclear Penguin

Anyone that has known me for very long probably knows that I am a fan of beer.   In fact if you notice my biological alcohol storage and processing unit (beer gut) you might surmise I friggin' LOVE beer.   You would be right.

I also love looking for new beers, especially something strong and exotic to try, even though they are not always very drinkable.  At least I can say I have been there.

I now have a new quest... I must find this beer!   Tactical Nuclear Penguin, the new beer by Scottish craft brewery BrewDog is a 10% imperial stout that has been aged in two different whiskey casks an extra 16 months until it reaches it's whopping 32% alcohol content.   This makes it currently the strongest beer by volume in the world, just passing the German brew Schorschbraer.  (Note to self... find that beer too!)  For those playing at home that makes it 64 proof.  Might as well call it Bourbon Light.

That is a lot of kick!   It most likely will be barely drinkable.   I have to have this beer!  It is now my white whale.   A single 12 ounce bottle would have the equivalent of 3 shots of whiskey poured by a bartender you have been tipping well all night.  If you see this brew in your favorite fancy grocery store or serious liquor emporium you are instructed to find me immediately or put up some kind of appropriate bat signal.

After I regain conciousness... I mean taste a sample... I'll report back with a full review.

Happy holidays and happy beer hunting!

Where its all going… and why Google has the head start.

Future of Cell PhonesMaybe not tomorrow, maybe not in a year, but soon. There will be a complete paradigm shift. Its going to change everything, and some people will get it, and some wont, but it will happen. Mark my words, it will happen. (Not the image of the guy with his thumb in his ear, that is just stupid) Just hear me out.

There are armies of engineers, developers, and marketers right now figuring out how to make this work, how its going to work, the amounts of processing power and form factors. Some are already laying out the road right in front of your face, right here, right now. Using the entire populous as a beta network. The entire concept lies with us, with everyday users, and everyday devices. Its happening right now, and yes even to you, even right now. They are just not showing you the big picture yet. Don't worry, I'll give you a peak into the master plan... Click for More

Google Wave: Wow, this is awesome! Hey, were is everyone…

Wave

From Wikipedia;

Google plans to release most of the source code as open source, allowing the public to develop its features through extensions. Google will also allow third-parties to build their own Wave services as quickly as possible (be it private or commercial) because it wants the Wave protocol to replace the e-mail protocol. Initially, Google will be the only Wave service provider, but it is hoped that, as the protocol becomes standardized and the prototype server becomes stable, other service providers will launch their own Wave services, possibly designing their own unique web-based clients as is common with many email service providers. The possibility also exists for native Wave clients to be made, as demonstrated by Google with their CLI-based console client.

Heh, thats ambitious.

... and how does Google feel about IE users?

Wave IE

And what is "Google Chrome Frame" you ask? Why, its a replacement for Internet Explorer, inside of internet explorer. BRILLIANT!

Nokia N900, not your fathers Maemo…

Nokia N900

Nokia N900

I was interested until I learned it used the Edge network and cost $700+. Maybe its better on another carrier, but on AT&T you get a blazing fast 107k/64.2k (DL/UL)

I had the Nokia 770, the age old grandfather of this device and the first Maemo device (Also on eBay right now). It was "OK" for the time, but unless things have changed drastically, don't expect much mainstream support for this. Perhaps that is the niche market for this device though, Linux users and people who constantly like to tweak things, which it should do very well for that.

Don't expect it to ever be anything remotely as refined or polished as say an iPhone or Android phone. No offence with the open source Linux crowd, but in this day and age with the iPhones, Droids, and HTC HD2's out or coming out, why bother Nokia? Too little too late. It just makes you go "Meh". For $150 and you could have a Droid and do everything you see here, perhaps even better (Especially if you are a Google and Facebook user).

But all in all, cool video Nokia! Scary stuff!

Dirty Laundry

When purchasing a 107 fl. Oz. Bottle of laundry detergent I strongly suggest not storing it on top of your washing machine. Unless of course you were planning to spend your Saturday morning cleaning oober thick, oober consentrated BLUE Tide off the white walls and ceiling of your laundry room. I am pretty sure I now have the cleanest laundry room in America!
Too pissed for pics
Can't have nothin!!

iDon’t Need you Anymore

and you used to be so hot...

and you used to be so hot...

Dearest iPhone,

There comes a time when all relationships must come to an end. Good or bad, you come to a fork in the road and whatever your choice you have to make it, and deal with the consequences. We both knew it wasn’t working and its hard breaking up. I just need some space. Some freedom to control my own background. I… I need to multitask. Apple, maybe we could still be friends, but seriously we both know that will never work, and it would be weird. We’ve hurt each other too much. You know I loved you.

You see, I found someone new. Her name is DROID and she’s open source, and well… More athletic than you. The way she snaps from app to app is something you never had. Not to mention she has GTalk built in, syncs my contacts over the internet, and she’s more accepting of my own personal freedom to choose how I interface with her memory and file system. She uses standards, like Micro USB, and Micro SD Cards, and doesn’t require iTunes to be installed in every bedroom we interface in. Let’s face it; you were so rude to Linux when he came over… You acted like you were above him or something. So sad cause you were from the same tree.

Her screen is brighter, higher resolution. Not trying to be rude, but just perkier. Not even mentioning how hot she looks in her media cradle doubling as my alarm clock. Your little white cradle, even though I told you it was hot, never did it for me. The way she downloaded all my contacts from Gmail and merged them with Facebook, I just didn’t even need you anymore. She merges things without me even needing to explain it to her. It’s like she thinks for me, and in this day and age, I appreciate a good intellectual.

I mean… I know… You’ll improve over time and the next time I see you in public you’ll look great. You definitely tried to be kinky when I jailbroke you with BlackRa1n. I’m sorry… maybe it’s just me, but having iTunes forever in our lives kills the relationship. You’ll never be the one.

So this is goodbye, and you’ve been a good girl, but everything you didn't, DROID DOES, and I just don’t need you anymore.

Slayer: World Painted Blood (don’t worry, its good)

Ether you're a fan or your not. Slayer are one of those bands that you can pretty much be assured will rock your ass off, always. If you've ever had (or have) the opportunity to see them live, trust me its a changing experience, and comes highly recommended.

Slayer are pretty much the single only band that if you listened to 20 years ago to this day, still do the exact same thing they've always done. That is, create some of the hardest, fastest, most evil,  in your fucking face shit.

World Painted Blood is everything you've come to expect from Slayer. Its the same thing they've been doing since day one, in this case that is a good thing. A damn good thing... Where other bands get rich, change the recipe, get back to their roots, {insert some stupid identity crisis here}, Slayer is still Slayer. The same four dudes cracking out great metal with razor and blood cutting lyrics.

Like every Slayer album, you've got to give it some time to cook in your head (and the subliminal messages to embed into the synapsis of your brain). The track I've included on this post is probably one of the more unique tracks off the album that deviates a little from the normal recipe, but never enough to sway the hard core fan. However fear not my pretty, every singe track is fresh Slayer-ness, and will scratch that need for something new from your old friends.

Its nice to know in a world of change, and indecision, there's still a constant...

So throw it in, turn it up, and break the fucking knob off.
